We are supported by Platform, Glasgow to develop this work during the Play Cafe program. These sessions for parents, carers and children allow artists to try ideas, experiment and develop their practice through direct engagement with early years audiences. Each of these sessions run on Wednesday mornings and then there is space available for the artists to plan and explore their ideas at another point during the week.
SKY HIGH DEVELOPEMENT
An interactive dance performance for children under 5 and their parents/guardians.Inspired by the book,‘Sky High’ by Frances Wosmek.
Collaborationing on this project are Choreographer, Hannah Venet, Musician and dancer, Jo Jeffries and Visual Designer, Valerie Reid. Part of this development will explore how we can draw all these elements together; design, sound, visual, and tactile elements, to create a work which will stimulate the senses. Having worked with early year’s ages for over 4 years now and part of this development is drawing on experience of how early years children learn and interact with the world around them.
'I remember being very young when my Nanna used to read this book to me and my sister. I still recall this today and wish to explore the idea of creating memories for a young child; what is it that stands out, that they will not forget? My sister believed that the angels in this book delivered her to earth. It is curious to think a young mind has such a vast imagination its own strong beliefs and sense on reality. I wish to explore this concept.' Gemma Williams
